What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store. They let the site remember things between page loads or visits, such as a chart preference or whether you have already seen a particular widget. Pixels and local storage entries do similar work in slightly different ways. Throughout this page we use "cookies" to cover all of these.

How we group the cookies on this site

The cookies you may encounter on silvercharts.org fall into the categories below. We use them ourselves or they are set by the third-party services we embed on the site.

Strictly necessary

These cookies are required for the site to load and display correctly. They support things like preserving the page you are reading and remembering preferences set by embedded chart widgets. Without them, the site would not behave as expected. They do not track you across other sites.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site. The relevant cookies typically include _ga, _gid, and a per-property _ga_* cookie. They store a pseudonymous identifier and information about your visit, such as page views, session duration, and the order in which pages were visited. We use this data in aggregate to improve content and navigation. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors with this data.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by managing cookies in your browser as described below.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site is funded by advertising delivered by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to measure ad performance, prevent the same ad from being shown too often, and, where applicable, deliver ads that are more relevant to you based on your visits to silvercharts.org and other sites on the internet. Cookies in this category may include Google's NID, IDE, and similar identifiers, as well as cookies set by approved AdSense partners.

You can manage how Google personalises ads for you, including turning off personalised advertising entirely, in your Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of many advertising partners at once via:

For more on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see Google's policy on partner sites and the Google Ads policies.

Embedded chart and news widgets

Live charts, the ticker tape, the market-quotes widget, and the news timeline come from TradingView. When the widgets load they may set their own cookies and local-storage entries to remember things like your selected chart timeframe, theme, and indicator settings. These cookies are governed by TradingView's Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Managing cookies in your browser

All modern browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies, either globally or on a per-site basis. The exact menu varies by browser, but you will usually find the controls under "Privacy" or "Privacy and security" in settings.

If you block strictly necessary or widget cookies, parts of the site, particularly the live charts and the news widget, may not work or may need to be reloaded each time you visit.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers vary in how they handle "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals. Where applicable law requires us to treat such signals as an opt-out from sale or sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, we honour them. Tools provided by the advertising opt-out organisations linked above will give you the most reliable and granular control.

Changes to this policy

If we add new services or change how cookies are used on the site, we will update this page and refresh the "Last reviewed" date at the top.
